I seem to be having some sort of IR issues with my STB that may be related to my LCD TV. The remote doesn't seem to consistently control the STB (7216). I've now seen that other people have had issues between LCD and STB, so I've tried a few of the remedies mentioned on similar threads, but no luck. Is the best solution the IR extender? Can a VZ technician chime in here? Can one be provided so I can test it out?
I've really got to get this fixed - the family is starting to revolt!
Thanks.
I don't know if this is the cause of your problem, but one issue I have seen is that if I press the buttons quickly the STB sometimes gets confused. As long as I press the buttons slowly and distinctly it works fine.
I've also seen this problem on Blu-Ray players and DVD recorders. Non Verizon equipment. The processor in some devices, including the STB, isn't overly powerful and if it receives several commands quickly it doesn't keep up with the commands. Hitting two buttons at the same time can also cause problems.

Yes, your LCD can be causing IR issues with the STB remote control function. An IR extender (the one sold by Verizon for their 7266 STB) MAY reduce the problems you are experiencing. What remedies have you already tried? Do these include reducing the backlighting level of the LCD?
This is a peer-to-peer forum, so I doubt you'll get the attention of a Verizon tech, and the chance of them providing you with an extender none. Post what you've done and maybe someone will have something further you can try.
