I am able to successfully view video from my PC on my TV.

Why doesn't the software support .MOV files? Many of my home videos are in the format as it is the format used by Kodak cameras to save the files.

Not sure yet why we are not able to support the .MOV files, but there are many free converters out and available on the internet if you do a google search.

This is the initial release of streaming video in Media Manager and Verizon is always open to suggestions to creating a better product for its customers.

I have exactly the same issues as Sharkman.

I subscribed to media manager yesterday (because of the video streaming feature). Downloaded and installed media manager on my PC which runs on XP. My DVR is the Motorola 6416.

Photos and music work perfectly, however, ALL videos including the sample video and internet video time out with a message saying they could not be played and to try again later.

I have tried turning ffdshow on and off with no change. Also tried with windows firewall off - no change.

There are some people who say the videos worked for them initially or only 10% of their videos work. However, in my case (and I believe sharkman's) vidoes have never worked. I was excited about the vzliveupdate.exe attempted fix posted by a fios tech earlier and tried it soon as I got home. Unfortunately it did not work for me.

I'm also having problems with the video. 

I have it on my Windows XP, 1.5 GB memory, 2.6GHz machine where I can get the sample file to play, but not the internet video.  I tried the update, but no luck.  The pictures seem to work fine.  The update suggested here did not help.

I also tried it on my HP Mediasmart Windows Home Server which is only 500 MB memory, 1.8 GHz which I can't get either the video file to work or the internet video, but the pictures work ok like they did with the old version.

Any idea what the problem is?

Hey spider122, I see you mention using an HP MediaSmart server.  Were you able to install the Media Manager software on it?  I tried and couldn't get it to install.

Or are you running Media Manager on a PC and pointing to the files you have stored on the HP server?

FiosBob, I am able to run it on the MediaServer all the time and the pictures and music work ok, but I'm having problems with video.  Of course, nothing is straightforward with WHS.  I've been a bit disappointed with it.

This is what I did:

• Downloaded media manager from a regular pc and put it on the shared drive of WHS.
• Remoted into WHS, found the file and right clicked the file.  There's a security option at the bottom there about the file coming from another computer.  You need to unblock it before you can install.
• Then you can install the software.

At this point, you can install the software, but you can only access your content from the set top box if someone is logged into the whs.  Since this is not ideal, you'll want to be able to use it whenever the whs is up and running, but no one is logged in.  To do that, you need to set this up a service.

There's a program called AnyServiceInstaller that I downloaded off the internet that you can use to set this up.  I think it required me to download the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit.  Then I was able to set this up as a service.  Make sure you say that it should run under your administrator id instead of local host.

It's not terribly straightforward and there doesn't seem to be much on the internet about getting Media Manager to work with WHS.  The WHS is a perfect type of machine for this type of thing.  It's always on and you keep all your content there.  I wish there was an easier way to integrate this.  Ideally, Verizon would create a plug for it to work with WHS, but so far they have not.

I am having a similar issue with a different twist. Pictures work fine, but music and video do NOT work. I am using ActionTec router and Windows Vista. I can see video and hear music through Media Manager on the computer but not on the Set top box.

When I choose a song or video, the box reads 'h5-' and I get a message that the song/video cannot be played.

In terms of your streaming audio:

1)   Check the bit rate.  128 kbps is optimal, should not exceed 192 kbps. 

2)   Check the file format.  Supported Music Formats are:  MP3, WAV, WMA and M4A. 

Still working on video streaming issues.  Will keep you posted.

Hi there.  On your PC, you are able to play the sample file, but not your own video file.  If the video file is in a supported format, this might be a codec issue.  Try to play another, in supported format, on that PC.
