My DVR is connected to a Yamaha 5.1 surround sound system with Bose speakers. It has worked fine until recently. Now on some HD channels (502 CBS, 504 NBC) I get poor or no surround sound. Sounds like only the rear speakers are coming through. Other channels are o.k. and VOD is fine?? My DVR is a Motorola QIP 7216 1. Installation was around April 2010. Any thoughts? Do I need a newer DVR? Or a software upgrade? Thanks in advance for replies.
I am sorry to hear about the troubles with sound you are having. The set top box is continually being updated, but the firmware in the surround sound was probaby last updated in the factory. Some receivers will not let you update them. Please refer to your user manual on how to do that. Also try changing all the different audio settings from the set top box main menu to see if any of those help you.
