The NBA Channel content listing for this evening (Oct 21) listed the Laker/Sacramento game at Staples. However, as soon as I started to watch it, the picture froze. Apparently, Verizon is frozen out of even the NBA channel when a Lakers game is listed. The ID of TMC SN was clearly a background image on the channel. I suspect that will be true of any channel that has a PAC-12 College football team playing. It seems logical that Verizon could obtain TWC SN even if charging a small monthly fee for each subscriber who wanted that service. Since I have heard that other providers have obtained broadcast rights for TWC SN it appears that Verizon is making no good faith effort to meet the entertainment preferences of their So. Calif users. It would be encouraging to hear from the Verizon marketing department regarding their intent regarding obtaining broadcast rights to the TWC SN channel.
I'm happy that Verizon has not given into TWC Sports net. TWC wants $3.95 PER SUBSCRIBER of Verizon TV services. Not just the people who want to watch the games but every single person who has Verizon TV. That's more than any other network has ever asked for. It's not like we don't have NBA Basketball. For once the Clippers are as relevant as the Lakers and more entertaining without being stupid and signing exclusive contracts to stations owned by a provider.
For once ill have to give the Clippers the thumbs up on this one.
{please keep it relevant}Get Twc sports net now and I won't waste my time on here!!!!
You aren't going to like this, but those of us on the east coast can see this game on NBA TV, with the TWC SN graphics in the corner. The only reason you can't though, is because TWC SN owns the exclusive rights to show the game for the Lakers market of Southern California, whether your provider carries the channel or not.
I wouldn't blame Verizon for this though, since only Time Warner Cable and Brighthouse currently carry the channel. It really says a lot that DirecTV isn't carrying it yet, even while they market themselves so much for sports. Verizon might even take a couple months to get things done, but trust me, they WANT to carry this channel. They carry every regional sports channel in each market they serve, and a big one like this will not be the only one in the country they don't carry.

I think the last deal for the two MSG channels was something around $5 a month for both, so this would put LA into the same price category with four regional sports networks just like NYC.

Yes, that does seem logical, but that is not how regional sports networks operate. They know they have a valuable product, so they hold out that providers pay the carriage fee for almost every subscriber. Every other RSN in the country does this, and TWC SN is no different. That's why Time Warner Cable paid billions for the rights, they can rake in money from every other cable and satellite provider serving Southern California. If a provider doesn't want to play along, their customers don't see the Lakers on TV.

The only party who has an interest in not making a good faith effort is Time Warner Cable. The longer they stall with Verizon, AT&T, and the sat companies, the more people will switch over to their awful cable company just to get access to its own sports channel.
Watching this game, the name "Time Warner Cable Sportsnet" being rattled off just doesn't sound natural like "Comcast Sportsnet". I'll predict they change the name after a year or two.
AS I UNDERSTAND IT THERE IS A $140.00 CANCEL FEE TO QUIT A FIOS CONTRACT.... ABOUT THE SAME AS A COUPLE OF LAKER TICKETS... IT MIGHT BE WORTH IT !!!!!
I sympathize for the people that are still under contract and want to make the switch but can't afford to... I really hope that you will soon be able to watch our beloved LAKERS too!! A few peeps in here sound like some of the sales reps with their canned answers. I seriously doubt that they even understand what it's like to be a LAKERS fan being they live back east. Bottom line to me is my the cost of my monthly bill with the ability to watch the LAKERS and a 20 mb/s connection is a 20 mb/s connection be it copper or fiber.... It's the same speed. I'm so glad that I switched over because last night I was able to watch all of the starters play with Dwight for the first time... It kicked butt!
I did hear the announcers at TMC SportsNet a few games ago say that TWC SportsNet is currently in talks with all major TV providers and to wait because it should be soon that other providers will be able to show the LAKERS game.
GO LAKERS!!!!
