How do you know they did not bargain in good faith?

BTW, there is more to the cost of carrying a channel than just the subscriber fee, so don't go by TWCs claim of it only being .14/user.

Lots of people have been asking for a la carte. Verizon tried to go down that path. And the content providers (who have been holing it up for years) are striking back. How can you blame Verizon for that?

CRob

A good faith negotiation is when both parties seriously listen to each other and work out their differences. Verizon had no intention of signing a new deal with TWC otherwise it would be a done deal Today. They still can if they choose, TWC is ready and willing. As of today every major provider from Frontier to Comcast, Dish, Direct TV, COX and even the lowest of the low Time Warner have new contracts with TWC. Verizon who claims to be the best is the only hold out. WHY?

Second the 14 cents per household number did not come from TWC. It was printed in The Richmond quoting industry experts as the TOTAL all costs considered cost to Verizon.

As for this a la carte thing, do you really believe Verizon is looking to save you money. Give me a break, they will hook people with a supper low price and then up we go just like FIOS. My triple play started at $99.00 and is now over $250.00. And how are customers supposed to choose, unless you have watched a channel, how do you know if you like it or not. Verizon was moving in the right direction, Customer Service Was Improving, I even bought their stock and now the Verizon of 10 years ago has again reared it's ugly head all that good work down the tubes.

Hate to tell ya, SinCara, but DISH just renewed their deal with The Weather Channel. It was a multi-year deal too, from the looks of it. That means just about every major cable provider (Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, DISH, Frontier & Time Warner, just to name some of them) now has some sort of agreement with The Weather Channel. The only one who doesn't is Verizon. Now I know you read these posts, Verizon, so it's time to listen get The Weather Channel back on FiOS TV. 🙂

Verizon offered me a $20 a month discount plus free HBO for losing the Weather Channels and renewing mid-April. I was hoping they would bring it back.  While that saves me $480 over my two year term,  frankly I'd rather pay that extra $20 a month and have it and local Weatherscan, Accuweather is horrible. HBO is worthless to me. I'd rather watch movies on my schedule. I may even have it yanked.

With an HBO subscription you get access to HBO On Demand and HBO GO.  With On Demand you can watch whenever you want on your TV.  With HBO GO you can watch whenever you want on your mobile device or computer.

Enjoy.

Or TV if you have a smart TV or device like Roku or Apple TV.

Please reconsider negotiating with The Weather Channel

AccuWeather is behind the times and spends most of each hour showing the East Coast (I am in the Central South).

The AccuWeather presentation looks like their studio is located in someone's garage.

I have been a long time FIOS customer, and, believe me, I will be checking out other options based upon the loss of this station.

Dish has their own weather channel now it's called Weather Nation TV is seems pretty good, I tend to be watching it rather than The Weather Channel.

This forum seems more like a venting for individuals than anything Verizon would pay attention to.  I've been with FIOS for quite a while, and will leave as quickly as possible if they don't bring back TWC.  Verizon's customer service is the worst in the nation and if enough people leave them, maybe they'll realize how terrible they are to their customers.  They just don't care!  TWC is my #1 most critical channel... working in disaster recovery, I rely on it to get a bigger picture of the weather throughout the US and anything that could impact the Mid-Atlantic... but, again, VZ doesn't care about the safety of their customers.  AccuWeather is a joke, it DOES look like it's being broadcast from someone's basement (it gives me flashbacks for Wayne's World).

I am stunned by the foolhardiness of Verizon in not renewing their contract with The Weather Channel. I am not a complainer, but what is next, no CNN???? Accuweather is an insult to my intelligence and should be an embarrassment to Verizon. As a Comcast stockholder and Verizon subscriber I am thrilled that ,with this type of mismanagement, the merger fell through. I'm sorry but if the channel is not restored I will be changing back to Comcast.
