Bad form on cancelling TWC.   Gave Accuweather a chance, but just not able to match the coverage.   Extremely bad move to remove any/all live local radar as well (ch 49).   I use the internet and it can give more analytical info, as I have pro Accuweather access for radar if I need, I am also a HAM operator (N5LXB) and have storm chasing monitoring.  But.  TWC is a mainstay for content, live coverage and overall weather geek need.   AW channel, has not the abilty to do this.   The storms here in Tx have been really critical, guess where exec's live just dont get the need.   Really dissapointed in this move, but it is not uncommon in the industry.

You're a HAM operator? Awesome! Say, if you ever hear KF5YSH next time you're at your radio, that's my brother. By the way, I'm in the same boat as you here in upstate New York -- No Weather Channel, got a ton of apps on my tablet I can turn to, but it's still not quite the same. As for HAM? I'm working up to get my tech license, so maybe someday we'll talk on HAM radio.

I have a bad feeling that somewhere in the USA, someone's gonna get killed (God forbid) by the weather & not having The Weather Channel, before Verizon finally decides to bring it back... I really hope they wise up soon, FiOS cosmic control is really endangering a lot of people's lives who don't have smartphones or the Internet...

Dropping the Weather Channel was a deal breaker for me. Today, I signed up for Comcast XFinity service. I got a deal with better internet speed and all the pay channels for slightly less than I was paying for Verizon. The big plus is I will have the Weather Channel back !!!! Verizon, you really blew it by dropping the Weather Channel.

A big storm outside right now and I've spent an hour trying to find a decent radar map online. My computer is slow and I do not have a smart phone. We need The Weather Channel! You at Verizon might think that the 1,500 comments here on this forum show that only a small percent of your customers want The Weather Channel back. But the fact is, finding this forum and then figuring out how to access it is a real chore and your frustrated non-techie customers are not represented here on this forum at all because...THEY ARE NOT TECHIE. There are many customers that do not access weather from computers or smart phones, and TV is their main source of information. To say that "everyone" uses online weather now and nobody watches The Weather Channel, well Verizon, that is not true or realistic. For one thing, a whole generation of people are being ignored...the majority of the over 65 crowd do not use online weather or online anything, and probably never will. THEY ARE NOT DEAD YET, and there will be another 10 - 25 years left before they are all gone. So removing The Weather Channel and justifying it by saying everyone is online, is wrong. And please do not keep telling us that you gave us AccuWeather and that we should be satisfied with that. We have given AccuWeather a fair try and it is worthless. It does not give weather information that will keep your customers safe. It doesn't even report weather about our region of the country. I truly believe that Verizon customers are at greater risk of death and injury from the lack of quick access to good weather reporting. We should be able to push the remote button and instantly get to life saving weather information. I have also tried to talk to Verizon customer service on the phone about these issues and asked them to relay my issues to a department that will make my concerns known to management. But I can tell that those front line customer service employees are told to give the "everyone does online weather" sales pitch, and the "AccuWeather is better" sales pitch, then they try to end the call.

P.S. - Verizon, ARE YOU LISTENING? CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

I think that's a bit far fetched. There are people who don't have cable at all. How do you think they get weather information? There are smart phones, radios, weather radios, streaming devices with TONS of weather apps etc.. Just because Verizon doesn't have TWC doesn't mean one can't easily get information elsewhere. If one has to rely soley on TWC for information they need to re-think things. This day and age there's no excuse to not get information from other sources. What if the power went out? You wouldn't have the TWC then either.

You choose not to buy a smart phone, you choose not to get a faster computer. You can't blame Verizon when there are options that you could be doing to fix the situation yourself. You shouldn't be relying on TWC. An option is to simply switch providers and go to one that has what you want.

I really miss the Weather Channel. I don't know what Verizon was thinking when it replaced The Weather Channel with AccuWeather. AccuwWeather is NOT a replacement for The Weather Channel! It's apparent to me that Verizon doesn't care about their customers since they went ahead and got rid of The Weather Channel and replaced it with AccuWeather which is no where near the quality and quantity of The Weather channel. It would be EXTREMELY GREAT if Verizon would actually listen to its customers and bring back The Weather Channel. However, Verizon isn't listening and doesn't want to listen to its customers. Otherwise, The Weather Channel would once again be part of the FIOS TV channels! I didn't realize how much I've missed The Weather Channel during the last several months until I visited my sister in CT who has COX with The Weather Channel. If there were anything that Verizon customers could do to get thru to the blockheads at Verizon to bring back The Weather Channel, I know that many, many, many Verizon customers would do it. However Verizon isn't and doesn't want to listen to its customers so getting The Weather channel back anytime in the future won't happen. Gee, COMCAST is looking better and better!!

Truly **bleep** about losing the National Weather Service channel (ch 49 on our system here in Garland, Texas).  We can no longer quickly look at live weather radar by simply poking in 49 on our flipper.  Instead, they now want us to use the Weather widget . . . . . which is absolutely horrible!  For one thing, it takes forever to come up.  Waiting, waiting, waiting, and finally . . .. but the weather radar isn't live.  It's just a snapshot.  So we cannot tell whether the storms are coming or going.

I'm truly unhappy with Verizon's decision to drop channel 49.  The Weather Channel was of occasional use, but my household used channel 49 many times a day.  It was the first thing we'd call up on the bedroom TV each morning; to see what was in store for us.

Thanks a lot, Verizon.  I may be stuck with your service; but I'm not referring anyone else to it.

OH, and the new Accuweather channel"?  Every time I tune to it, they're showing weather in the Northeast USA.  We can be having tornados, floods, and other serious weather in Dallas, Texas, but Accuweather shows that they're having a nice day in New York City, Philly, Washington DC, Boston, Maine up there.  I DON'T CARE what's happening in Boston!  When we're having dangerous storms, I need information about where they are and which way they're moving.   Verizon may as well be showing the weather in Timbuktu!

I am a ham radio operator, too.  K5KF.  Have been for some 50 years.

But back on topic, I need to be able to see the weather radar  on my TV as it was on channel 49.  Their widget is horrible.  Slow to activate and doesn't have a live radar; only snapshots.   I cannot believe that Verizon thinks that their widget is an equal replacement to what we've been paying for and they provided since inception.

Thank you, SinCara, for being a spokesperson for Verizon Fios.  We all appreciate your carrying the water for Verizon.
