It has been a while and the loss of the weather channel --and its subpar replacements are unacceptable. the new channels ---119 and "widget" - dont work-- the widget takes too long and it and ch 119 do not have appropriate content for viewers needs-local weather on the 8's and etc. I also do not especially feel the need to log onto my phone to check the weather. we lost a pop up in our yard because we did not know wind and rain were coming in--if we were able to quickly look at ch 49 it would now have happened. it is a very disappointing--and costly for my family-- decision by verizon not to renew the contract with the weather channels. in this era of instant communication and information channel 49 -- the weatherscan channel--needs to be returned to the regular channel line up ASAP
I agree. Accuweather is not local content. We had a local weather channel that was also dropped when we lost the weather channel. My contract is now completed and not having the weather channel will be a driving force if I go back to cable.
Totally agree with you. It is a very poor substitute.
gs0b - I agree that we should have multiple ways to get weather information...but Verizon deleted one of our most important ways to get it. I have a weather radar on my computer, but it doesn't analyze the storm track or the intensity of the storm for me. I have to analyze it myself and determine if our house might blow off it's foundation. I am not Jim Cantore. After the lights go out I'll use the hand crank, but before the lights go out I would like to hear what TWC has to say. But of course Verizon customers no longer have the safety net called the Weather Channel.
Plumbago....why not use www.weather.com ? You can create a shortcut that will open the Weather Channel web site to your zip code and thus see weather info for your location at any time. You can also use the link on their website to "Weather In Motion" that will predict the path any radar provided weather may take.
I'm baffled with the addiction of posters here to The Weather Channel channel. I use their website all the time but their TV programming always had too much frivolous material for me. If I want to know if a storm is coming my way I don't want to have to watch 15 minutes of how the weather is on the opposite coast.
Different strokes, of course, but that's my take on this issue.
I agree. How can channels be dropped but not the price? Accuweather is not what I wanted either. Now the The Weather Channel is gone and so is the local radar/weather on channel 49. How can terms and conditions change without notice by the provider? But,if the customer wants a change get your wallet out!
Its the way they have written the contract.
They can add and delete channels as necessary.
BTW, this is pretty standard amongst all the providers.
It's been over four months now people. It's not coming back. As the chick in Frozen sang, let it go.
Adding my dislike of AccuWeather!
Verizon, you should be ashamed of this debacle. So many people dislike what you did regarding the Weather Channel. At least, the initial replacement, Weather Nation, was OK. AccuWeather is just plan bad. I have yet to see ANY tropical weather reports on AccuWeather. There is no good local weather/radar scan.
If your pride is too much to bear and you will not go back to The Weather Channel, then please replace AccuWeather with a better weather channel solution, such as Weather Nation.
I also want the weather channel backand will leave fios if it desn't happen. Has Verizon responded to any of these comments yet?
