Watching simultaneous channels

My HDDVR manual says that I can watch simultaneous channels by using the swap key on my remote. But I have the basic remote and cannot set this up. Any help? Thanks

The Verizon boxes don't support PIP. If your TV supports it through different inputs, then you can you those PIP buttons on the Verizon remote just as a convenience. Just make sure you press the TV button at the top first, so it's in TV mode.

Then I can connect my TV to different inputs on the cable box and achieve the same thing with PIP on my TV?

No, the cable box could only have one input to your TV because it is always putting out only one channel. You would have to either have two cable boxes or one input with your TV's tuner, if you have a QAM tuner in your TV. That's what I do. One input with the QAM tuner and one with the cable box. That is about all you can do, not many options, sorry.

When they say watch two channels simultaneously, they are referring to the fact that two channels are buffered simultaneously by different tuners in the DVR.  Only one channel is output at a given time.  In theory, you could pause one channel, switch to another and pause that, then switch back and forth, resuming and fast forwarding to skip any commercials.  Some people use this 'feature' on Sunday to watch one football game until tthey hit a commercial, pause that game when they see a commercial, then switch to another football game until they hit a commercials and then pause that; they then switch back to the previous game and fast forward past commercials.

I say in theory because some versions of the IMG won't remember the fact that you paused, although even on those you can always rewind to see what play you missed.
