Is Ellipsis an actual cell phone?

I just received my Ellipsis 7. It is activated and has a designated cell phone number. But I cannot see any way to actually use it as a phone--to make or receive calls, or to send text messages. So, it's just a little computer??

The Ellipsis is not a phone.  You can not make calls from it like a smartphone.  It does have a phone number associated with it, but that is strictly to allow it to access the Verizon 4G data network.  There is a Verizon messaging app that will allow you to text message, but you have to associate it to an existing Verizon cellular voice number.  Hope this helps.

You could add the magicJack app to the tablet and then use it as a phone thru magicJack.Smiley Happy

Interesting. I just set up a MagicJack account on the Ellipsis and placed a

call. The person on the other phone was getting no sound from me on the

Ellipsis, but I could hear her perfectly well using the speaker. So,

obviously the Ellipsis has no built-in microphone.

Right above the power button on the right side is a small hole - that's the microphone.  You can also use a headset or Bluetooth.

You may need to use a bluetooth headset.  I know I have to on my iPad

Yes, you were helpful. It's too bad really that this tablet, with its own

phone number isn't an actual phone. Seems almost silly that they failed to

include that minor addition to the dozens of apps, many of which are inane

for adults. Thanks for the tip on the texting app. That would be useful.
