Why have names disappeared from my contact list?

My contact names have disappeared from my Verizion Ellipsis 8.  How can I fix this? Thanks.

We know having your contacts available is vital when attempting to reach friends, family, or for business. Lets get this fixed asap. When did the issue start? Were the contacts located in the contacts application or your email account on the tablet?
