Here is some information on how to set it up on a Tablet: 

Set Up a Phone or Tablet on Your Verizon Messages (Message+) Account
To set up a phone or tablet on your account:

Download Verizon Messages (Message+) from the app store on your device.
Read the Terms & Conditions.
Tap Get Started.
Enter a nickname for the device.
Enter your mobile phone number.
Tap Send me a text.
You'll receive a text message on your phone with a security code. Enter the code in the app on the device to set it up on your Verizon Messages (Message+) account.
You've successfully set up a new device on your account.
