Lost out on my trade-in credits. I guess shame on me this time.

Bought a phone online a few months back and did a trade-in for $800. I was allowed to purchase the new phone at full-price and I did. In other words, no "device payment" would be a part of my monthly bill. Again, this was ALLOWED by verizon's online system.

I noticed that I wasn't getting my trade-in value as credit on my bill for the last few months, so I contact support, only to be told that because I don't have a device payment, I can't be given a credit.

What a crock! How are they able to get away with this? This isn't fine-print stuff, this is just theft.

Now, before anyone pipes up with "that is the deal," I am aware that is how they work their stupid trade-in values, but that is stupid and an excuse to rip people off. There is no justification for why they couldn't provide that trade-in value as a deduction on the monthly bill no matter the circumstances. It doesn't matter if they offer inflated trade-in value to do this because that argument doesn't make any sense. Verizon would still be getting free money from you if you walked away before the 36 months was over no matter if they chose to rob you this way or not.

Support refuses to do anything about it despite the fact that they admitted the system allowed it. They claim they can't even do it in their system anyway -- so please remind me, what is the point of the support line anyway if they can't even make changes to accounts.

I'm taking my phone to literally anywhere else after this.

Do you have some record of the trade-in being processed?  Because I'm wondering what happened to your old phone and why it wasn't applied to your account as a trade-in at the start.
