Promo order

About 3 years ago my wife and I decided to move from ATT to Verizon... due to the increase cost and lack of coverage where we moved to.  We also needed new phones.  As part of the of the deal, Verizon said our Galaxy S22's would be free because we were turning in our old phones.  There was no talk of how that worked... the person at the Rocky Mount, Va  Verizon store just told us they were free.

About a month later, we received a bill for $600 for each phone ($1200).  When I called and asked, the Verizon saleman said that the cost was due to a myriad of different things -- none of which were the phones themselves.

Fast forward to yesterday.  We decided that paying $160 a month for cell service was just getting out of our budget and decided to check out Xfinity's deal for $30 for each phone and save $100 a month.  It was quite a surprise when I went onto Verizon's website to pull our IEMI's and saw this:

Device Payment Agreement
Ready for an upgrade? Check out our latest devices.

17 monthly bills left with remaining balance of $188.87

Therefore... this free phone would be free after 5 years! So much for free.  The salesman at the Rocky Mount, VA Verizon (not a third party) store  said this was free and nothing about having to stay with Verizon for 5 years to get the "free" phone.

Make sure to read and get in writing anything the salesman says and have it signed.
