Trade in program

I traded in my old phone for what they said was worth up to $400 and I was forced to go to a more expensive plan.    I received an email that they received my old phone and it was only worth $27.50.  There was nothing wrong with this phone and the reason they gave was the phone was not eligible for a trade-in.    Then why was it an option.. I basically gave them  my old phone for nothing.  I'm paying pretty much full price for the new phone and my monthly bill went up.    But on top of my logon page it says thank you for being a 20 year member.     I just don't understand, that is horrible customer service.  I literally complain about nothing but this really bothers me as it was false advertising as it told me right up front the phone was eligible for this promotion.

LSBB, we definitely appreciate all of our long time customers, and we want to make sure you're getting every single promotion you qualify for. We're you shown that $400.00 credit during the trade-in process? We're sending you a Private Message so we can gather more details and better help you.

Yes.   It showed it so that is why I'm confused and frustrated.   It says my active plan doesn't qualify.  I updated my plan for this and am paying more per each line.   It also said eligible up to $400 for phone.  The phone was in good working order and I've used these promotions before and always received the full amount.   I was on vacation when I received the email my phone was received so assumed it was set.  I went  to this months bill and was surprised to see no ongoing credit.
