I live in an area where Verizon used to be king. It had the best coverage and also the best speeds for internet use. But over the last 2-3 years I have watched the speeds dwindling and the the daytime throttle from 8am-10pm start to become an every single day event... Every day. I pay for the top unlimited data plan and do use it all up often, but the daily throttle is ever present, even during the first few days of the billing cycle starting over.
I know as I live off grid and use my phone for work and a hotspot for many things, while also farming our land. It's like clockwork when the speed and coverage of the data/internet drops off an extreme cliff. I thought I was going crazy, but many of my neighbors also have Verizon and are experiencing the same throttling.
I have spent many hours online and there many many reports of the same issue and Verizon does nothing to address it.
I would like an explanation of why this is occurring nowadays and why the speed of the network out here is absolutely horrible and getting worse. My hotspot during the day is getting download speeds of 36kbps-200kbps ish and my phone "even in our big town near me" is having a hard time bringing up Gmail on a pixel phone. What is going on?
Side note. When a data plan goes over it's limit, it says reduced speeds up to 600kbps. But I have never ever got anything that high after going over my 50g hotspot allowance, it always goes to unusable slow speeds. Let alone good data speeds during the day. The only time it's decent speeds "over 1mbps-2mbps" is after midnight on weekdays.
Very frustrated and starting to feel like something isn't right. What am I paying for then? To be throttled all day between 8am-10pm? And to never be able to use my hotspot unless I want to leave it on for hours to watch a YouTube video or stream a video? I understand when I go over the 50g to be throttled and deprioritized, but the speeds that it goes down too are worse than dial-up... Not to mention the regular every day throttling. I even downloaded a network meter app to see what speeds are coming in and it's rough to watch.
