I am in my initial 30 day trial of Verizon's Home 5G Internet Gateway. Although there is a Port Forwarding section in the 5G Internet Gateway's (Router) Settings / Firewall, configuring Port Forwarding there doesn't appear to "open" the Port to the outside. I configured port 22 to be forwarded to my Western Digital NAS, but Verizon's Home 5G Internet Gateway is not opening that Port externally. When I check for open Ports (from the outside in) only Port 80 (which is used for the Router's Configuration) is opened.
Does Verizon's Home 5G Internet Gateway support Port Forwarding? Has anyone got this to work?
Of should I cancel my service and go back to Starry internet?
JohnMaring, I have the LTE Home Internet, and I can't wait for the 5G Home Internet to be available at my home to be able to take advantage of the speeds. When it comes to the ports they are automatically set and can not be manipulated or changed. They are auto-set. I was trying to check a couple of ports on my home router and the LTE router is the same, and we can't adjust them.

The 5G Internet Gateway has setting to configure Port Forwarding, which I have done. I just seems that the Router isn't opening those ports. A bug in the Router? Of there is some firewall setting that needs to be modified?
Why would they let you configure Port Forwarding and document how to configure Port Forwarding, if they know it won't work. Just ends up with customers like me being confused and upset.
Not sure if the 5G network is also behind the NAT firewall like the 4G LTE network is. To utilize port forwarding and other IP address configurations outside the NAT firewall, the customer needed to also purchase a public IP address from Verizon Wireless.
