For the 1st few months my Ethernet connected desk top had a good download speeds using a cantenna on a 4G LTE 10 GB dataplan. I have no other devices connected and WiFi is disabled on the router. For the past 6 weeks speeds are usually less than 0.6 from 11AM to 9 PM. Weekly, I have opened tickets, but they get closed when the techs determine there is "nothing wrong". I expected and am still paying for the advertised 5 - 10 speed - but getting dial up speeds that seriously degrade the usage... Seems like cell tower congestion to me, but no one at Verizon I have talked to will admit that is the problem..... they keep opening tickets and closing them without any resolution. I cannot recommend Verizon to anyone else.

Data over 10 GB used as hotspot data is restricted to 3G speeds for the remainder of the billing cycle.

> For the past 6 weeks speeds are usually less than 0.6 from 11AM to 9 PM.
When citing performance metrics it is important to provide the context. Where are you getting your numbers from and what is your connection environment like? Any overhead from a VPN should be excluded from your true performance. Performance metrics from multiple machines are also good to know. Compare Ethernet cable connections to WiFi when standing next to the home router for a bigger picture. 2GHz and 5GHz WiFi if the home router supports it.
> expected and am still paying for the advertised 5 - 10 speed - but getting dial up speeds that seriously degrade the usage...
As far as I know advertised speeds for LTE are still 5-12 Mbps. If you are consistently receiving poorer results from a common performance tool such as speedtest.net then you have serious leverage over VZW to intervene. Capture some screenshots or logs for confirmation.
> Seems like cell tower congestion to me, but no one at Verizon I have talked to will admit that is the problem
Congestion is within the realm of possibility but unlikely for the extended periods of time that you mention. Perhaps during prime time late in the evening after work but shouldn't be an issue earlier in the day.

Dave, we want you to feel great about our services. It is understandable that slow data speeds can have a negative impact. Let's see how we can turn this around. Please share with us your zip code.

Dave, thank you for your patience, we really want to get your service back up to speed. Your area is clear with no other reported issues. Have you tried rebooting all the equipment including the Cantenna, the router and the computer? Have you also made sure there is not an update available for your computer.

You have given me the same answer I have gotten multiple times over that past 7 weeks from Verizon customer and tech support. I have done all those things.
I am Ethernet connected to the modem with 2 desk tops and 1 printer. My WiFi is turned off.
As I have said - download speed varies on a semi regular pattern. Speed is usually OK in the AM – starts to get slow around noon.. Becomes so slow in the evening that I usually cannot do anything on line, and is slow on weekends. Can you assure me that this is not caused by overloaded cell traffic now that people are signing up for your unlimited service? Streaming or online gaming?
One customer service rep told me the speeds measured by your techs remotely from the cell tower ranged from 4 to 23 – clearly a very large variation. I see the same variation but even slower. Please see the download from OOKLA speedtest below. (note this is GMT time – OHIO is 4 hrs earlier)
A service tech needs to come out to meet with me and see firsthand the issue?
regards,
Dave

Dave,
I've had the same problem around the same time frame and have made numerous calls to Verizon Wireless tech support about it. I can't help but feel a strong correlation to the Verizon unlimited offers starting and my connectivity speed and consistency issues. Prior to the unlimited Verizon plan offering I was pulling upwards of 10Mbps, spiking near 20Mbps at times but consistently hanging around the 10 mark a little over a little under sometimes. But since about the same time as you I'm now hanging around 2.5-3 range, which seems better than yours, but still not as it was sold to me. I left Centurylink because of those speeds and switched to Verizon for the faster with the expectation that I would be getting 5-12 Mbps reliably which it has been anything but since March.
I've mentioned my theory a couple times and they even sent out a tech to survey my road for signal quality, citing it was not as good as they had originally advertised. They said possibly due to vegetation and/or new buildings. I told them I live a preserve area, there are no new buildings and no new trees, I can literally see the tower from the top of my house...my signal strength is the same as it has been since I purchased the cantenna last summer. In the end the last tech basically didn't disagree that it was possibly due to the tower being overwhelmed by new devices and congestion is causing my issues. To which I replied it was not acceptable that those of us who already had services agreements with Verizon with the expected delivery of 5-12 Mbps consistently, should not be suffering due to these new users. Unfortunately I will need to seek another ISP if this is the type of service that I am going to have to pay $120 a month for.
So your not alone Dave,
Sincerely,
Zac

Dave I feel your pain. I too am from the 43830 area. We've had the service since Monday. The first two days we were getting 3 Mbs tops. I was happy with that since as you know Windstream only gets 1 Mbs out here if you're lucky. After those first two days its been like having Windstream again. Well starting yesterday my computer connects to the internet, but has the yellow triangle with a ! In it saying "no connectivity" I can't even cancel my Windstream at this point! Absolutely ridiculous. Please keep this updated so I can see your resolution.

Not a good sign that I yahoo search "Verizon 4g lte installed slow speeds" and the first thing I see is a thread in the same zip code.

I have been seeing the same problem. I was getting speeds of 10-12 Mbps for the first few weeks that I had the device (March 2017). Starting on Friday (4/28/2017), my seed has dropped to less than 1Mbps consistently. I also have ATT unlimited on my phone and am not experiencing the same problem. I can clearly see the cell tower from my house, so that shouldn't be an issue. I am testing both connections with the Speedtest app and am getting 10-12 Mbps on the ATT connection, but less than one on Verizon. It would seem that the problem is on Verizon's network. I find this unacceptable. This is my first experience with Verizon and so far I am not impressed Or even remotely satisfie. I am glad that I didn't let them talk me into switching over my ATT phones.
