Upgrade is needed ONLY if you want to keep what you have stored in the VZ Cloud (excluding Contacts) IN THE CLOUD. Nothing will be deleted from your phone. You should have 30 days to decide and if you decide NOT to upgrade, you need to download everything from your VZ Cloud and save it locally or to a free Cloud service elsewhere. Contacts should remain in the VZ Cloud and be backed up from your phone/device with no charge nor need to upgrade.
