Paukea94, not being able to delete your contacts can be upsetting. I am here to ease the frustration. To delete a contact via Verizon Cloud on your device, you will want to delete the selected contact and preform a sync. This will delete the contact from the phone and website. http://vz.to/2aDeK5w What specifically happens when you try to delete the contact from your phone currently?
Also, here's how to delete a contact from the Verizon Cloud desktop website: http://vz.to/2aBj2ZA

You could move all your contacts to the your Google account and be able to edit them on the phone as needed. If you don't use the Verizon Cloud for anything else, you can certainly disable it.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Thank you. I went ahead and took the chance and disabled Verizon Cloud. When I tried to open my contacts from Verizon it kept bringing up my husband's contacts instead of mine. VZ Cloud kept telling me I could not edit or VZ Cloud contacts from my phone which caused a lot of problems when I needed to delete a business number and replace it with another. It was downright annoying that it was saving contacts I wanted to get rid of. I am much happier without Verizon Cloud. It's much simpler to use Google to back up my contacts. I just don't have the time or inclination to switch between my computer and phone just to edit or delete my contacts.
