HOW CAN I LIMIT WHAT GETS BACKED UP IN THE VERIZON CLOUD

My photos are backed up elsewhere and don't need to be on the verizon cloud. I don't want to pay for more than the basic 5GB

Open Cloud on your device, go to the menu, select Settings and What to back up, you will get the list of Contacts, Photos, Videos, Music, Documents, Messages, Call History   simply uncheck those you don't want to back up.   While you are there make sure it is set to backup over wifi only and perhaps time of day if you care.

You will have to remove anything then that you don't want backed up from the cloud.

If you happen to have More Everything Plan you actually get 25gb cloud free you just have to login and upgrade to it.  You then will see both a 2.99 charge along with a 2.99 credit for each device on the account that you enable it for.

You might look into other cloud services other than Verizon.. Google has a nice cloud service I'd imagine iToon's has something similar

Just go into your Cloud Settings and select/deselect what you do or do not want backed up to Verizon Cloud.
