How do I stop my contacts from being listed twice?

I use the cloud to back up everything on my phone after losing my phone at the bottom of the lake and did keep copies of anything on it.. learn how spoiled we are depending on our phones. Anyhow, now that I back up everything once a week the cloud synchronizes with my contact list creating double entries of all contacts. How do I program the cloud to back up information from my phone but I do not want the cloud to download information back to my phone creating a cloud contact when there is a phone contact. Any recommendations or suggestions?

Duplicate contacts would drive me crazy Growlin! Let's make sure you only have one set on the phone. Are you using any other backup service like Google as well for your contacts? When you log in online, are you showing duplicates as well? Click here to log in and view: http://spr.ly/6584B7Efw.
