Verizon Cloud music locked

My songs that were backed up to Verizon Cloud have a padlock next to them. How do I unlock them. And why are they locked anyway?

I love my music so I can appreciate anyone else who is passionate about being able to access their music, Salisbury.

May I ask where the music was originally downloaded or purchased from?

It sounds like the music has a DRM  (digital rights management) protection that will now allow you to unlock the songs.

The music was purchased from the iTunes Store. I can play any of the songs, but that's it. If I'd try to use one as a ringtone this message will appear:

Verizon Cloud does not support the sharing of copyrighted content, which is identified with a padlock icon.

I find this odd where the same library was backed up on a previous Droid Maxx smartphone. With no padlock icons. It is now on a Galaxy s6 edge plus, and locked.

So this is not pirated music and it is not going to be shared on any music sharing website. But if I choose to use one as a ringtone it is restricted.

And if I go to the ringtone setting to +add new ringtone it defaults to Verizon Cloud. I've yet to figure out how to change that, to the Music folder perhaps?

When is someone going to reply to this request?

My purchased music is also padlocked in the cloud and I am not able to set up my ringtones on the new phone.

Need a response!! This is a DEAL KILLER FOR ME!! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT FOR SEVERAL DAYS NOW AND I AM BECOMING MORE FRUSTRATED!!!

I don't use cloud to transfer files. I prefer to just transfer them directly from the computer. Have you checked the format of the files. Sometimes, iTunes won't be compatible with some android devices.

Yeah, I have issues with my tablet and no one would answer my question either. It is so frustrating!

I think it is better if we go to the store and talk to a representative from there.

I was able to download my music from computer to my galaxy S6 edge without using cloud.

Aneris, you're missing the subject point here. I'm certainly knowledgeable enough to know how to transfer files between my Windows 10 desktop computer and Samsung Galaxy s6 edge plus, and quite aware of what file types are supported.

Verizon Cloud is primarily being used as a backup of files. Such as contacts, pictures, music, etc. Back up is important as to not lose your files. I have about 1143 songs in my iTunes library, fortunately I burned them to CD's. Because you can't even depend on Apple saving them, they can do a iTunes update at times and half your songs are missing.

The question here is why does Verizon now lock your music in Verizon Cloud backup?

In giving that some thought. I figured that Verizon is being extremely cautious against copyright infringement. Because they worked hard to be the largest wireless carrier in the US; when you're #1 you become a target.

So I'm assuming? That Verizon is avoiding the being heavily fined or caught up in a potential lawsuit. By an organization that is out to protect a handful of has been musicians that were likely one hit wonders.

No trees were harmed by this message. However, several trillion electrons were extremely inconvenienced.

I want to be sure we get this taken care of for you, Salisbury. Is the music file present when you go to the Galaxy’s File manager? Are you able to set it as a ringtone if you move it to the Ringtone folder of the File manager?

We want you to enjoy your music to its fullest potential Salisbury. iTunes music typically comes in two formats, locked and unlocked. This is usually represented by the format in which it is downloaded in, AAC and AAC+. Unlocked music is usually more expensive then the locked version of the same songs. May I ask which format do you purchase your music in? If you have the locked version then you may not be able to use songs as ringtones. Keep in mind that this is a protocol that Apple has in place for its media. Once you are able to verify if the music is locked or unlocked then we can proceed.
