I have been trying to back up to Verizon Cloud for weeks... I continuously receive "Last backup failed" message with no further details. So, I'm not sure what ISN'T backing up. What is recommended to ensure a successful full backup?
If you are trying to backup several things (photos, contacts, texts, call logs, etc) try unchecking all but one, say Contacts. See if it will work and backup your contacts. If that works, then uncheck contacts and try photos ... until you find what causes the backup to fail.
I would also recommend using a "backup backup" - depending on your phone I would use Google, One Drive, iCloud or other backup services that can be accessed regardless of your service provider.
