How do I switch to and from split screen

Selected email icon. From is listed on left side of screen and the text of the email is listed on right

Should have said inbox address list is on left side and the text of seselecte emal on right

That's how it's designed if the tablet is in landscape orientation.  Split-screen is off if the tablet is in portrait orientation.

It does not automatically split in landscape or go away in portrait.

When it splits it is split in portrait and landscape. I can't get it to go back

to normal, it eventually does it on its own. ???

Think I have it figured out....kinda.  If I hold the tablet in landscape position and then select emai it goes to split screen.
