Why is my device not updating the software?

Recently received an Ellipsis 7 and I am trying to get the software update (currently runs 4.2.1) and when I check for available updates i either get the "can't connect to server" box or the "tablet is up to date" box. I have cellular connection and wifi available but I can't seem to get the device to recognize that it can update. Help?

The update eventually downloaded after many resets. But now it's stock in a boot loop after applying the update. After the welcome message cones on it stays on a black screen and when I try to turn it off it turns itself back on again.

I'm sorry to learn of these details. Let's try some troubleshooting. I've done a little research and I'd like to ask you to try some steps. Please turn off Wifi, then power the device down. Let me know if it powers back on after that.
