how do I add text to the ellipsis 8 w/o using another telephone number?

I want to start texting with ellipsis 8 but it asks for the phone number to send security code to in order to start. If I use the number for my tablet, I can't Get the text. If I use another number it pairs with the tablet so text show on both it and the phone.

The tablet has to have a phone number linked to it to send and receive text messages.  I believe that was the purpose of Integrated Messaging...to use the phone to send and receive with and to sync the phone and other device.
