djnichols2, we want to make sure your messages go out right away. We will take a closer look at this for you. It is not the tablet that is causing you to schedule messages but the application settings. What applications are you using to send messages?
It shouldn't require that unless you've moved into the Scheduled Messages menu. Do you see "Scheduled Messages" anywhere at the top of your screen? Have you already tried restarting the tablet?
If you are using Verizon's app, Messages+, and you press and hold the SEND button, it will bring up the scheduling menu. If you simply TAP the send button,it will send immediately. You may inadvertently be holding the SEND button too long, so it is giving you the delayed option.
