I cannot receive photos via text messages from someone with an iphone 3 on ATT. I can send myself text messages with photos from messenger services such as Heywire. The message from an Iphone shows an attachment but it is too small to be a photo. When I download it, I cannot find the download anywhere on my phone. Also, the size of the attachment is too small to actually be a photo. Any suggestions?

Allow us to get you up and running with your picture messaging Not1Not2. So that we can troubleshoot correctly, what make & model phone are you using? Are you able to receive picture messages from other numbers besides AT&T customers?
Thank You,

I have sent photos to myself from alternative Text messaging services such
as Heywire. They seem to work fine. No one else has tried to send me
photos. Also, the person who tried to send a photo tried another text
messaging service I used and that didn't work either.

Thanks for the details Not1Not2! Can you try sending yourself a picture message (MMS) from your own phone? You can do this by typing your own 10 digit number into the "To" field of your message and attaching a picture. Let us know if that goes through okay for you and you receive it back with a viewable attachement.
Also, does this person who's messaging you have any issues with sending picture messages to anyone else? Please keep us posted!

I can send myself a photo and the person says she does not have any trouble
sending photo's to others. However, I do wonder about the fact that she
cannot send a photo by email from her phone. By the way, thank you very
much for your effort.

Awesome! Thanks for trying that for us, Not1Not2. That confirms your picture messaging service is not blocked for sending or receiving the messages. When this person is sending you the message, is he/she using your 10-digit mobile number or your email address? You mentioned earlier you receive something with an attachment on your phone when he/she sends it but the attachment is too small to be a photo. Does the message show in your stock text messaging application or do you have a 3rd party messaging app installed? Also, do you have or have you recently had any iOS products (iPhone, iPad, etc) active with the same contact information she has on her iPhone? Her device might be trying to send as an iMessage if you do.
Thank you

The person sending the photos is using my telephone number. To my
knowledge, I do not have any iApps on my phone.
The message shows in my stock messaging App.

Thanks for that info! Each carrier has size restrictions that will only allow a max amount of data to be sent. Do you know what size restrictions the other person has? Could they find out?

The person who attempted to send me photos doesn't want to respond so I
guess I will just let this go. Since she seems to be able to send photos to
others, this doesn't seem likely to be the problem. In regard to the
size limit I found this on the web:
The terms and conditions do not specify the size limitation for MMS, all
they state is "*AT&T reserves the right to change the Picture/Video message
size limit at any time without notification*.", this can be found in
section 6.5, paragraph 1 of the terms and conditions here Link
1<http://www.att.com/shop/en/legalterms.html?toskey=wirelessCustomerAgreement#whatAreTheGenTermsApplyDataMsgPlans>.
However this link here states that the current size limitation is 600KB
as Dcookie <http://forums.att.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/1785834>
stated
earlier. Link 2<http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=34458&cv=820#fbid=FoqGYTwpPsT>
Thank you very much for your help.
