Every once in a while, I get a type of message from a 5-digit short code number. This may be some sort of notification or security confirmation from a website, but it shows up on my phone and I get the message as normal. However, on the web-based version of Verizon messenger, the message does not show up. Oddly enough though, the tab that I have my Verizon messaging window open in, shows a notification saying that I have an unread message, even though the message never actually showed up, and therefore, I have no way of clearing. This has been going on for a couple months now, and I currently have a (5) in my tab for 5 unread messages that I am unable to clear. It is just a building problem and it seems there's no way I can get it back to 0. I even went through every stored message I had on the web based Verizon text program and deleted every message I had saved on there just to ensure that I didn't miss anything and all the messages were read, but when I refresh the page, even though there are no saved messages left, it still shows the (5) up in my tab. Additionally, many times when I am sending a message from my phone, the consistency of it showing up in the web version of Verizon texts is spotty. Sometimes they will show up, and sometimes they wont. I'm not doing anything differently from one time to another to prompt this inconsistency. Does anyone out there have any advice on how I can fix these problems? They're not serious problems that prevent me from using the service, but it's just very annoying when it says you have unread messages that you have no way of viewing or clearing. Please let me know if anyone out there has advice on this. Thanks

I wish that worked for me. I can share that this is a security code that I'm trying to get from the bank. I have the number and sent text messages to it using the web and desktop application. I even sent a "Help" request to the number and got a message back, but the security codes to not come through even on the mobile device.

We're sorry to hear about the trouble with receiving any of the messages from your bank. We know that can be quite important. You mentioned that you don't receive the security code at all, even on the mobile device. Has this worked in the past for you, or is this the first time you're trying to use their service? Do the messages show up in in your manufacturer's default messaging app? EricW_VZW

So? Did this just never get solved and then got ignored? Because I am also having this issue and it’s very frustrating. I’m trying to get verification codes from Verizon so I can use my secondary phone to receive my messages from my primary phone. ( I don’t have access to my primary phone at the moment) so even Verizon’s verification messages aren’t showing up on their web app. Anything new? Or

You can't sync Verizon Messages between two phones. The application recognizes the second device as a phone and won't allow you to register a number not associated with that device. You can sync with a PC, tablet or smart watch, but not another phone.

Fair enough. However the original issue still hasn’t been solved no matter where I look. There are still certain messages that won’t show up on the webapp. Thank you for the information you did give though.

If you are referring to the verification text messages, that was already answered earlier in this discussion thread. It's on page 2 of the thread. The Verizon Messages FAQs are also linked earlier.

Tlach, I am so sorry to hear that you are not receiving all your messages on the web as well as the phone! I know how important it is to be able to manage your messages. May I ask what make & model phone you are using? Are the messages that are not showing from specific numbers, or does it seem random?

I am having this same exact issue and I am currently sans a phone to receive/verify received codes. (Verizon support PLEASE do not reply with the 'Sorry you are experiencing ((insert issue here)) as it is a very empty apology. )
There has to be a way to resolve or prevent this from others experiencing the same/similar issue. This is EXTREMELY frustrating when not having access to a phone.
As such, I am currently basically locked out of many things that I need to get access to, including the process to verify/backup/authenticate receiving a replacement device as I am unable to verify my # with Asurion because of this very issue.
Please resolve or provide some form of workaround. I already attempted to contact Verizon support and described the issue in detail and the rep was clueless and ignored the details I provided.
Verizon, your FAQ, and customer support is poor.
<Very dissatisfied customer.

I am also having this problem without access to my phone at the moment. I am unable to use the SMSM verification because the Web version of Verizon messages does not show ANY of my short code messages. This is causing a lot of confusion and frustration. right now.

I am also having the same problem of not receiving certain texts using the online web app. Most of the time it is from the short code numbers, however, there are also texts from 10-digit numbers that are not showing up. I need to be able to access at least all the messages sent from 10-digit numbers, as I don't have access to my phone during the day, and I need to be able to see those messages.

We want to ensure you can view your messages when you don't have access to your phone, melboots47. Let's take a closer look into this. When did this start? What is the make and model of your device? Have you noticed any patterns with the text messages you are not receiving?

I have the iPhone 6S, and I have only noticed it within the past year, since I began using the web-based messaging. I am trying to receive a confirmation code to allow me to login to an app, and they send the code 3 ways: through the app, through the short numbers, and through a 10-digit number. I am unable to see either message. The 10-digit number that sends the code has not been the same the few times that I have had a code sent, so I can't add the number as a contact to see if that fixes things.

I also redownloaded the Message+ app on my phone, and it does not show all the messages either. I submitted feedback with screenshots to show the discrepancies via the app, however, I have heard nothing back.

Secure messages like verification codes can't be received on the web-based application or any other device besides the phone associated with the phone number the message was sent. This is a security feature to prevent unauthorized access to your messages. It is all spelled out in the Verizon Messages+ FAQs available on the Verizon Wireless website.

But those same codes are also sent from a 10-digit phone number, not from the short 5-6 digit codes. If it is sent from a regular 10-digit phone number, shouldn't that show up online?

They could still be secure messages and won't sync to other devices.
