Hello. We want for you to be able to access messages through your laptop again. You've come to the right place for assistance. Is it Verizon Messages Plus you are using or a different type of messenger? Has there any recent changes on your computer, such as a software update?

Verizon doesn't want to be in the messenger business; I tried for hours with support trying to install the old desktop version...they had no clue as to what I was talking about.
They're jerking us around, plus I'm getting the old "403 Forbidden" message.
Get another messenger app, this sucks too much.

Lets get on the same page with the correct terms. Are you referring to Verizon's Message+ desktop application or Facebook's Messenger application? On my Windows 10 machine, Message+ works fine, syncing with my integrated Android phone and iPad Message+ apps. Also, Facebook Messenger opens fine as well.

Verizon messenger on desktop. Just tried to login, get the same message; 403 Forbidden.
The old messenger was great, the new web version doesn't work...maybe on occasion it works.

Still confusing. It isn't Verizon Messenger, but Verizon Message+.

Basset3, I can understand enjoying a previous version of the VZ Messenger. We do our best to balance bringing new features and access that would benefit the app's users; while keeping elements that they enjoyed from earlier versions. I don't want you to have trouble accessing the Messages online. To get an idea of what's causing you to get the 403 message on your browser, I'd like to ask a few questions.
What browsers have you tried accessing the site with? Do you have any trouble trying use the Message+ app on your smartphone? Can you sign in to My Verizon normally without trouble?

Basset3, making sure you are able to access Message+ on your computer is important. I am here to assist. Have you had any issues accessing your My Verizon account? Have you downloaded the new app version to you your computer? Have you tried accessing the web version? If so what happened. I have included the link that offers you both options the desktop app version and the web version. I want you to try accessing both. Let me know what happens.

I too started having this issue tonight.
I did not update anything, on my laptop, since i used messanger last night.
I am using mozilla for my browser. I was successful using logging into my verizon account using mozilla, but got the 403 forbidden message when i tried to send a message through the browser.
I was able to assess the "send a message" page using chrome on my friend's l laptop, but i don't have chrome on mine, and do not like to use it. Nor do i like to use I.E..
One of the questions a verizon tech in an earlier reply string asked if the messanger verizon app worked on their phone. Why would i use a verizon app on my phone if i can just send a txt on my phone?
I'm using a laptop browser because i'm not allowed to bring my cell into my work area, but would still like to access and respond to my messages during work hours.
i just want to know how to rectify this issue speedily.

I have the same problem when accessing my messages though the Verizon web portal. This has been happening to me on and off since they rolled out the new website and is quite annoying. Just like OP I work in a secure building and can not bring my cell into my building at all. This is the only way I have to communicate with my family while working 12 hr shifts 6 days a week.
Get this fixed or I will find another carrier that I am able to use.
Just in case there is still confusion on what OP was trying to relay to everyone the problem is located using this service.

Just to be absolutely clear, the error is with the web app for Verizon Messages (not a cell phone app or computer app). I also encounter this error and request that it promptly be fixed. It is not a user error -- it is clearly a Verizon website issue. To reproduce the problem:
- Go to Verizon Messaging, Message + Verizon | Verizon Wireless (the standard Verizon interface to all messaging services on the web)
- Click on "Go to the web app"
- Upon doing that, I also get the 403 error
403 Forbidden
The request has been refused or access is not allowed.
As several users have noted, many Verizon users work in secure areas or areas where there is no cell coverage and the desktop app ports are blocked (or require proxy configurations that we cannot access), so we depend on the Verizon Messages Web App on a daily basis. This needs to be acknowledged and fixed or Verizon will lose these customers.

Well, I did what you suggested and got to the web messaging service page fine, not duplicating the issue described. This has got to be a user browser issue, maybe cache, cookies, login, script or something else affecting their access to the page.

Interesting -- works for me now too, using the same browser and login as before. I did not clear cache or make any other changes. Hopefully it is a fixed problem now.

I'm having the exact same issue. Worked fine a couple of days ago. Now getting the 403 Forbidden error message. This happens using both Safari and Chrome browseres. It is an error with Verizon. I've always used the web interface to message rather than the message app. The message app for desktop freezes if someone sends an attachment. Please fix ASAP. The web browser texting interface ASAP.

MODERNESHELLAC, we always want your Verizon Messages working perfectly no matter what device, app, or browser you are using. In order to resolve this as efficiently as possible we just neWhat device is this error happening on for you (iPhone 10, Mac Computer, both, etc.)? What changes were made around the time this first started if any (updates, new apps, etc.)? While the messaging app freezes on the desktop, what happens if you try to use it on the phone?

Getting the same error, on Chrome and IE9. Verizons website sucks, I switched to Android messenger which has support for texting through desktop browser, it works much more consistently... Unfortunately i had to switch back to messages+ because it's the only messenger app that properly receives group messages through Verizon network...

Being able to use Messages+, on a desk top device, has great benefits. At this time, this is an issues that we are aware of, and are diligently working to fix. We do not have a time frame right now, however, please check back with us, at any time, for any updates.
