Do I have to switch to Google Messages when Messages+ is discontinued? My Google account is full. I no longer can use my Gmail or Photos without paying for extra space. Can we switch to another text app other than Google Messages?

VZ is recommending Google Messages but even Google is saying that there are problems with that app and they (Google) recommending using some other app temporarily while unresolved issues are corrected. I had a chat with Gemini on OCT [phone number removed per the Verizon Terms of Service] and here was the response from Google:

Response from Gemini: 

"Unfortunately, there seems to be a glitch in Google Messages. Even if you select only one message to delete, it can sometimes delete the entire conversation. This is a known issue that Google is working on.

Here are some temporary workarounds.

1. Try a different messaging app. You could switch to another messaging app temporarily while Google fixes the issue

2. Be extra careful: when deleting messages.......

3. Report the bug: Let Google know.....

You can choose whatever messaging app you choose for your device/service as long as it is compatible.  Google Messages is only a recommendation by Verizon.
