I have a galaxy S4. I receive my group texts sporadically. Today my friend (who has AT&T) sent a group text and I never got it; however, I did receive some messages that were sent later in that same group.
Also, my text messages but not my picture messages sent to my dad (also a verizon customer). When I try to send him a picture I get a failed message notification.

Confirm you have cellular data turned on, it is needed for MMS messages, which include pictures and group text.
