mdslandry, as a mother, I understand the importance of monitoring your child's usage. You can view the itemized detailed usage which provides the mobile number, date, and time for each text message online at My Verizon. http://bit.ly/xB4iTc However, I apologize that for security and privacy purposes, the content of those text messages are not available.

As a parent, in order to truly protect my child, having the details is very important. Is this a federal law, or a verizon policy? My 13 year old knows she can delete messages. All we can do is see the numbers, date & time. The actual messages are extremely important!

Hi Vic01!
I completely understand your concern! Which device does your child have? I am unsure of the severity of the situation however you can reach out to your local law enforcement for a subpena.
Thanks,

She has a basic Samsung phone. Intensity II.
She was texting suicidal notes and we need to know more. As a parent, we should not need a court order to see our minor child's messages.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. It's not a Verizon policy, but rather, a law that specifies this cannot be done without either court order or protection order. The only alternative is seeing the messages before they are deleted, which is hard to do in most cases

Maybe you should not let your small child have the luxury of a cell phone if they cannot use it responsibly, or maybe start setting limitations.

Thank you for your understanding. As soon as we found out, the phone and all internet access were removed. They will remain removed until we know she is safe.
