How do I downgrade a Verizon app (Message+)?

I do not like the new update, 6.2.1, for the texting app Message+ because of the changed emojis. Is there a way to downgrade to the previous version of the app?

You might have uninstall the application to factory default and then sideload the apk version you want. You might have to check www.apkmirror.com for the different versions.

I too just found my emojis changed. They are at best on par to a 1st grade art class. I chatted with an idiot at Verizon who told me that I had to root my phone which was not advisable. What the heck is this? I am not a farmer. I was then told that it is LG's issue since it is LG's phone. Excuse me. I pay Verizon for service and I am using Verizon messaging. I was then told to use a 3rd party app. Like the rest of this country I am going to Dumbsville. And this is a "smart" phone. Maybe Verizon needs to hire "smart" tech support.

The emojis are either set for their look by either the phone manufacturer in the base code of the phone if they decided to have a custom look for them, or they use the default Android design. I'm not sure if the developers of the Verizon Messages+ application can use a different style of emojis from the rest of the phone. I do know there has been some discussion on the tech sites about an updated library of emojis with new symbols and others revised. You might be seeing the newer library. If so it is a server switch and not something controlled by an application.

Verizon Wireless is only providing a connection to the cellular network and the application known as Verizon Messages+. They have nothing to do with how the rest of the phone works.

Thank you for the feedback. It is interesting that I had a pop-up this morning that now offered me to "customize" the emoji's (with the "classic" look). This seems to be much better and far closer to what I had and liked. Perhaps my feedback to the Verizon survey had something to do with this. However, it is much better. Unless you work on the "inside" to where all of the programming and features really come from, the "old timer average Ken" gets lost in the ever changing world of IT.

Thank you for the time to contact me. I am learning quite a lot as I go. I would have hoped for a better customer service rep to explain and solve my problem vs. the way I was treated.

I'm just another customer like yourself. I actually don't use that application, but I have noticed the emojis are different visually between different phone manufacturers and phone models sometimes.

You can change back to the older style emojis by going to the Customize menu.

You can access it on your "conversation" screen (screen where you can see the names of people you have been messaging, not the screen where you message them), there are 3 vertically aligned dots next to the search icon (magnifying glass), touch it, tap customize, then you can find Emoji settings (5th from the top).

That doesn't really work.  I set them for Classic and when I view the choices, they are the old ones, but when I click on them, the show up as the new ones anyway.  What [Removed]
