If the conversations are backed up and restored into Google Messages, you should be able to reset the notification tones individually to each contact or text group as you need.

We currently customize our Message+ text with special notification ringtone/notification .wav files. This allows us  to know when we receive a text from certain individuals.  When we migrated my wife's text messages to Google Messages the customized ringtone/notifications did not migrate with the text. I was able to determine how to customize the Google Messages to match the notifications individually. My question is, can the ringtone/notifications be automatically migrated when the texts are move from Message+ to Google Messages?

I don't think it can be automated.

If you are referring to having a custom tone for individual people or conversations, you will likely have to manually set them up again in the Google Messages for each contact or text conversation thread. At least that's how I have them set on my phone. Whether it copied across when I recently transferred phones I can't say as don't have it as customized as I did a few years ago. As long as it notifies me when I get a new message, I don't care as much about which tone is playing.
