How do I use Integrated Messaging and my SD card?

The information about Integrated Messaging lists saving text messages to an SD card and being able to retrieve them later is one of the benefits to the service. However I can't find any information on how to use this feature or how it works with Integrated Messaging in particular. I am trying to figure out how to retrieve text messages I have saved onto the SD card in my phone. The phone doesn't offer an option for moving them back onto the phone although it does provide a means for copying them to the card. I am signed up for Integrated Messaging now but wasn't for the messages in question so they aren't already integrated. Does anyone know if or how the SD card feature toted as a benefit of this program works? Thanks
