How to PERMANENTLY disable integrated messaging?

I have went into the app settings and unsubscribed/deleted my account/disabled integrated messaging at least 50 times. Every time the app updates it re-enables it and recreates an account for me. It is unbelievable annoying. Why they are trying to force people to use this service idk... It is a privacy concern and Verizon should know better. Me for example have a company phone. So all my text's get uploaded to the server, where my company can get access to them unless i disable integrated messaging. Which I have but it keeps coming back. Luckily I found this out one day when I had to replace a broken phone. When I signed back in on the new phone, all my texts were back. I was FURIOUS! In the last 2 months the app has updated idk how many times, maybe 40/50 or so. How can I PERMANENTLY disable this app from recreating the integrated messaging account?

You can use vzw messaging without the integrated, but when it is updated it is looked at as a fresh install and would be subscribed automatically and so would need to unsubscribe again. This is why you should disable auto-updates if wanting to use the app but not the integrated portion. Personally, I always use the stock app as the default (partially for this reason).

"you don't need to subscribe to Integrated Messaging to use the Verizon Messages (Message+) app on your phone. However, if you want to access your messages from a device other than your primary phone, like your tablet or computer, then you'll need to subscribe to Integrated Messaging.

The first time you download the app, you'll be automatically subscribed to the Integrated Messaging service when you use the app. If you don't want to subscribe to Integrated Messaging, follow these steps to unsubscribe:

  1. From the app, tap the Menu icon
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Unsubscribe.

Your account will be deleted, and you can continue to use the Verizon Messages (Message+) app without the Integrated Messaging service."

Did you say this is a company phone?  They likely control what apps are installed, and then reinstall them.  If you have another texting app on the phone, be sure to set that as the default texting app, and disable the Verizon app.

If that doesn't work, your other option would be to get a phone of your own for your personal use, and use the company phone only for company business.

SuzyQ is correct, but additionally-- if you state this is happening when the app auto-updates then I would recommend going into the Play store and disabling the "auto update" feature in settings so that at the least  it won't update if you aren't using or wanting to use this app with preference toward the stock messaging app.

Doing this, combined with the recommendation above with regard to setting the stock messaging app as the default will correct the issue based on the info you have provided. This is assuming however, that there are not any company permissions/restrictions as was also mentioned.

I am using the stock messaging app. Vzw messaging. I dont have any other apps installed. It is a company phone but no one is monitoring it or doing anything to it. We're a small company and I am one of the account managers for the cell service. Yes the app does it every time it updates. I get a text badge on the vzw app and when I open it the app is displaying a couple of options asking if I want to keep my public profile. I always say no and go into settings and disable integrated messaging. Every time it says my account was deleted successfully.

VZW messaging is not the stock app. The stock app will just be called "messaging"... This is likely the issue but still, disable auto updates of the VZW messaging app and select the other messaging app on the device as the default....

Ahhh yes you are correct. I didnt even realize there was another messaging app. When I got the phone vzw messaging was there and I didn't even see the other one. With that being said switching to the other might fix my problem but what if I like the functionality of vzw messages better? There has to be a better solution than to stop using the app? I guess turning off auto update would also fix the problem and allow me to continue using the app but still doesnt sit right with me that they are doing this.... Hmmm

What if there is no 'unsubscribe' option. There is no default message app. Just google based messages.
