While traveling in Europe on wifi only where Cellular Data Roaming is set to OFF, the iphone will still connect to a local mobile operator. Everything is fine until a voice call or SMS comes in a triggers a daily Travel Pass charge. Everything was fine until I kept getting SPAM texts and SPAM voice calls. How do I get a credit for these Travel Pass charges?

We certainly understand your concerns about these unwanted charges. We want to help look into your phone settings and your plans so you are best set up as you travel. I have sent a personal note so that we can discuss in more detail.

Hi, when data roaming is turned off while you're overseas, the phone will still connect to a mobile network, if there is an available one. Regular phone calls and SMS texts would then still be going through the mobile network, hence triggering a Travel Pass charge. Even if you put the phone into airplane mode and force it to use WiFi for everything, I have read there can still be charges for that. The only surefire ways to completely avoid Travel Pass charges are to shut off your phone, or purchase service from a local carrier and use a local SIM while abroad.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
