How do I recover the emoticons and graphics that were eliminated from my graphics when I updated my software?

If I had been warned this would occur I wouldn't have done it. I know have VN270ZV3 version software and want my emoticons and graphics BACK!

I'm VERY annoyed by the lost of possible graphic options!

I was able to contact LG directly, on your behalf, and learned they had not heard of this issue with the current software version. I agree with the manufacturer in suggesting a reset of the device itself. In order to do so, please follow these simple steps: 

From the main screen, press Menu. 
Touch Settings
Touch Phone Settings
Touch Security
Enter Lock Code ???? displays, enter the 4 digit lock code (default: last 4 digits of phone number).
Touch Reset Default
Reset Default - Preference Settings will be set to factory defaults. Your user data will not be erased. Press <OK> to continue displays, touch OK.
Scroll to Revert, touch OK

I have been in contact via email and real time and had a trouble ticket, names, telephone numbers, etc about the emoticon loss.. This encompassed at least 4 different VZ employees and stopping in 2 VZ stores.  NONE of them can solve the elimination of the emoticons problem.  They keep telling me to do a reset (or they do it in the store) plus upgrading the software (and now up to version 4) which I was told would be a fix and is not.  All have been extremely polite.  None so far have known what they are talking about.  Amazing really that they can sound knowledgeable and yet be clueless.  I was even told repeatedly that I can get a new Cosmos Touch and when I pointedly ask will it have version 2 or below they say no!  They admit the emoticons will still not be there. What good is it to exchange a phone to get the same problem?  There is a smiley face emoticon on the "M" for a reason.  It does not have a blue fish on it.  It does not have a margarita glass on it. It has an emoticon.  VZ brushes off the problem as an LG problem.  But, when I "chatted" with LG (and kept a printed copy), they state it is a VZ problem and only VZ can send downloads to a VZ customer.  I agree that I am a VZ customer that pays VZ monthly for service.  I do not pay LG.  I expect that what is CLEARLY on the qwerty and had been operational should work.  As an aside, my daughter has the exact same Cosmos Touch purchased along with mine (by me) and her phone still has version 2 and all 46 emoticons.  That's right no smiley face here What can you do for us?

Here's the most recent crazy follow-up by VZ to the missing emoticons from my LG Cosmos Touch.  Late yesterday I received a FedEx package.  Opened it up and it was a RECONDITIONED Cosmos that was sent to me against my objections!!! My Cosmos was just purchased in March 2011. One of the 6 VZ reps that have contacted me decided to FedEx it to me no matter what I said - and I have that in an email from him.  Once I opened the box and saw it my first thought was that he must have found an old Version 1 or 2 which still have the emoticons.  So silly me decides to go through the entire process of changing to the "new/old" phone. That means using the backup assistant, losing pictures, losing settings, losing texts, using another film screen saver that costs 3 for $12.99 that I had purchased in March, calling to get it activated, and spending at least an hour or two of my time.  Oh and here's a good one, once I opened the FedEx box I have 5 days to send something back. Not 5 business days but 5 days or I'll be charged the cost of a phone!!!! So I knew I had to work on it immediately after my 10 hour work day.  Lo and behold, my "new" phone has Version 3 - EXACT same problem.  No emoticons.  This is exasperating and disgusting.  I knew there were plenty of people that complained about VZ Wireless customer service but I was always the first to suggest they have the "best in service" policy.  Now I have a problem so I understand exactly where they are coming from.  All the VZ reps have been polite but too bad the reps I have experienced are not knowledgeable and send me emails with preformatted platitudes such as "thank you for your patience...I am so happy I could be of service...We value you as a customer..." Just fix the problem.

I have had my cosmos touch for just a few days and am learning about it on the go.  I just checked and my emoticons work.  How do I check version of software.  Also, is the upgrade to later versions something that takes place automatically or is it something I will get a choice to ignore.  What other features were in the upgrade and did you gain something from the other features to offset the loss of the emoticons?

I just found the sw version..  it is VN270ZV4
