Message+ auto response isn’t replying to any incoming message

I have been using Message+ successfully for over a year on an iPhone6. It stopped sending replies. I tried troubleshooting to no avail.

I upgraded the phone today to a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. I reinstalled the app, made it the default messaging app. and verified the auto response is set on.  It still doesn’t work.

The only purpose of this phone is to reply to incoming text with a standard reply. 

Can anybody give me a clue on where to go from here?
