Message+ doesn't give audible notifications when texts are received

I have a new Galaxy S8+ (replacing my former one that was stolen last week ), and am using the Verizon Message+ app (Version 6.6.7) for the first time. Like  many others have posted in past discussions (dating back at least 2 years), my app is not providing audible notifications when texts are received. I've attempted to implement some of the recommended fixes, but either was unable to do so, or they proved ineffective. I know you know how important it is for customers to receive texts, so please don't say that in a reply. I don't know why this is STILL a problem, when it's been reported by many different users over many years.

IS there a fix? I like the ability to customize the app, and its many features, but if I can't receive notifications when a text arrives, I'll quickly search for another app that serves me better.

MARWEH39, I have had a few phones stolen over the years and that is always concerning, but glad to hear the phone was replaced. We are here to provide all the support you need for the text message notification issue. We recommend starting with ensuring the app is up to date by using the steps on the following web page https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/113412?hl=en. Here is a web page https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-211005/ with steps to ensure the audio settings are correct. Then ensure the app notification is on per the following steps https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-211621/. Which other fixes have you attempted to ensure we do not repeat any steps? Do you receive notifications for other apps and services?

  1. I have the latest version of the app on the phone.
  2. The audio settings are correct, and the same as I used with my previous phone (another Samsung Galaxy S8+)
  3. I attempted to follow the steps to ensure the app notification is on, but wasn't clear which Apps screen to use to access the app notifications - the screen of apps I get by swiping up or down on the home screen? the Apps link from the main Settings menu? I've tried each one, and neither walks me through the process like the KB shows, so I haven't figured out how to get to the screen shown in item 3 of the KB (link follows). FYI, I've already gone through Message+ and customized it, including my default ringtone, appearance of messages, etc.; I've also gone into specific contacts and customized their notification sounds. This is not the first time I've set up messaging on a phone; it IS the first time I've had a problem receiving audible notifications, and based on my limited research, it appears to be a bug with the app. https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-211621/

MARWEH39, thank you for continuing to work with us on a resolution. At this time we are not aware of any widespread issues of the Verizon Messages app not providing an audible alert, so we will continue working on this. In regards to app notifications, you will go to the phone settings, select apps and select the Verizon Messages app. Then select notifications to ensure that is set to allowed and ensure that show silently is off. Then use the following steps https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-211006/ to ensure the interruption settings are off. Please let us know how it goes.
