I got a text from Verizon Friday telling me that Message+ is being taken away from me. I use windows 7 and windows 10 at work. The Microsoft Store is blocked by IT policy. There is no tolerance for Candy Crush and other pushed apps from the store. If I go to the microsoft store on my home PC, I can see a steaming pile of hundreds of reviews rating this replacemnt turd a 1.5 AND Microsoft or the adorable people at Verizon has pulled the app. *** It is no longer available. It is listed but the app has been pulled. ***
November 4th, Verizon is turning off a serivce I use. Because they care and value me as a customer, they are not providing a usable replacement. The deep appreciation Version shows its customers was demonstrated to me first hand today when a live chat thing (bot or damaged human) repeatedly sent me to the Microsoft store for the app; an app so bad that it has been pulled. Repeatedly telling the chat bot the app has been pulled did nothing but bring up a survey on my chat experience. Since the Message+ Windows app is being yanked from under me without a replacement, what are my options? I am not logging into your ad filled website to check text and SMS. The site logs me out after a few minutes where as the Message+ stays logged in for hours.
Everytime I use your site I have to run through a gauntlet of ads and the ever helpful display of my account balance for everyone at work to see. I use your website while teaching classes on UI design as an example of what not to do. The site is barely usuable to pay bills. Other than that it's a nagfest that requires I log in every 10 minutes. It's not even close to a useful replacement.
I need and use Message+ as is without the extra useless garbage for tweens you've forced into the reviled new version. Every single review clearly says you messed up the pooch, ran over it and then dragged its limp carcas through the streets for miles. You're taking away tools I need. I sit at a PC all day and texting from the PC is faster and I can easily send PC screen shots. There is no technical reason to pull the old app.

Because the app is being removed from the Microsoft Store doesn't mean it is being forcibly removed from our computers. It still works (somewhat) and hopefully Verizon will eventually figure out the 'syncing' issues. Did you have it loaded and working on your work PC's? I have saved the old and newer .exe files when downloaded, in case I had to re-install them or install them on other PC's.

Would you happen to have the old .exe files to send me, please? I've lost my Verizon+ on my WIndows 10 and can't believe the runaround I get from verizon?

Kadidllehopper, we understand your concern and we don't want you feeling this way. It's essential to stay connected and want to help in the best way. The Message+ Verizon Messages - Windows Desktop application is not compatible with Windows 10 computers. The Windows messaging client for Verizon messages is being temporarily removed to prevent syncing issues. For the time being, we recommend utilizing the messaging web client as a windows alternative. Here is a link with more information http://spr.ly/66041zRMO The Message+ team is aware and working on a resolution.

I've been running message+ on windows 10 for 5 years or so - works fine. Version 2.02 on my home machine, 1.0.17.0 on my work laptop. What I'd really like is to get an installable copy of 2.02 - it's far superior to 1.x. And BOTH sync messages just fine. I'm astounded Verizon has "just discovered' a sync problem - sounds very garbage to me.
Anyway - what's the ETA for a "correct" version for windows - presumably 2.x?

I built a new PC - "assumed" I could just reinstall needed apps.
The message+ is no longer available in the windows store - Why not offer the older version to use somewhere?
Message+ worked fine for my windows 10.

You might try this older version v1.0.17.0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/biatyb1m6egwx1t/Win10%20Message%2B%20v1.0.17.0.exe?dl=0

Thank you, thank you, thank you.....................you are a GodSend. After countless hours with Verizon bots and useless agents and more hours researching this, I came across your post. I downloaded the program, ran it, and everything is just fine. You'd think Verizon would discover this.

Hello NKyadventurer,
I appreciate at the update on your situation with the trouble you had with Verizon Message Plus. I am glad our fine community members were able to chime in and give their input into the issue, and it was resolved. We always want to help, and someone beat us to the solution. Please bear in mind we can be found on Twitter under the handle VZWsupport, and this would give you faster results. Do you need any further assistance?

@vzw_customer_support , @EdwinW_VZW (???) And what was the solution you would have provided? I had saved a copy of the Win 10 Message+ desktop app v1.0.10.0 .exe file which I made available to @NKyAdventurer . Was that something you would have done? As for Twitter, I personally would rather use the VerizonWireless secure forum platform for this.

"beat us to it" !?! Wow, now that's hutzpah! Well done, bravo
This post has been up for almost a full 6 months and you're just now getting around to gracing us with your presence by saying "you beat us to it". You've made it clear that you don't give a flying rat's rectum about your clients or you would have done something months ago instead of now taking a leak on my head and saying hello, we love you.
"you beat us to it" That's so cute.
The old WIndows 7 app still works fine even on all the flavours of Windows 10 ... if you can find it. I get the occasional scare popup saying that support for the app has ended and to go to the M$ store. That's what prompted the original post. Ignoring the message allows me to use the old software without too many issues. The web client is nowhere near a solution.
As for Twitter? No, not even if I was 12. Verizon in its wisdom put up a forum to "help" us. I shouldn't be forced to load 3rd party software to resolve issues with a company that likes to think it's #1.
Thank you to my fellow users for providing answers to questions that Verizon simply can't be bothered to even read in a timely manner.

Are you kidding me? Edwin would have given me the canned rote bot script that said nothing or asked stupid questions, like what I was wearing. 🙂 I don't think they ever really train any of these support people. Thanks again for your help. Working like a charm.

WHAT A SHAME ON VERIZON! ! it has been over 6 months since they took down and stopped their PC message+ app and NOTHING!! 10's of discussions on this topic with 100's of comments from customers who pay high rates for verizon service to be well served are complaining about this issue and NOTHING!! no updates, no estimate for a new release and they just let us wait! we need back the option of texting using the comfort of a computer keaboard and there is no reason in the world that it should take such a long time! Verizon has the ability to get this done within weeks and now after over an half year we are still at the same point because NOBODY CARES! they are focusing on things that they could use for advertising and to build themselves like 5G but we the customers are left behind! PLEASE PLEASE VERIZON we are all waiting to see this service back ASAP! Dont respond with some lovely message how you love your customers or something like that, just take action and do whats in your hand to get this message where it has to get, i dont think that the CEO or some other executive are reading this posts so they really dont care about us, but at least whoever in the Verizon team does read it please make sure it gets somewhere and maybe we should try to send emails to everyone possible they should wake up and take care of it, Thank You!

I'm coming into this discussion late, so what is the final word?
Is VZW dropping Messages+ Desktop, or are they still working on a replacement? And it's been a while now, so I'm guessing there should be a *rough* ETA. (This quarter, next quarter, etc.)
And Messages+ Desktop was a VERY dated program; I was always surprised they didn't have more updates. But if they are dropping it, please let us know. And if so, then Messages+ on the phone should also be replaced with a Messaging App that is compatible with a Desktop App.
I really don't think people will care if it is not "Messages+" they're using, but those that are still using Messages+ will want VZW to supply an equal or better alternative. (It one more thing on the Pro/Con list when you come up on renewing your phone with VZW...)

VZW does recommend using the web messaging service from their website https://web.vma.vzw.com/vma/web2/Message.do while the desktop app of Message+ is 'being fixed'.

Using a session limited website that forces me to sign in every few minutes, disrupts my work flow with popups warning me that my session is about to expire is nothing more than a vector for intrusive ads and constant bot popups to "chat with us". That is not a usable solution by any stretch of the imagination. Verizon has been silent on this app for years so one is left to assume that they would rather we bog off. We are not valued customers but merely sheep to be fleeced and plowed. We are to **Bleep** and accept whatever crumbs Verizon throws at us and we better be happy and thankful. I'd go to another provider but all US providers are truly terrible.

Kadidllehopper, no sheep or fleecing here. We understand that there have been changes with Messages + and that these changes may not benefit all users and all operating systems. At this time, Messages + may be downloaded by visiting https://www.verizon.com/solutions-and-services/apps/verizon-messages/. Thanks in advance for your help with this!!

The link you provided again brings me to a web page viewer. There is no windows download! Repeatedly sending me to the same webpage based option is not a solution no matter how many times it's repeated by Verizon.

kadidllehopper,
I want to make sure you have the options you need to use your device. I reviewed that link though and I do show the download link for the desktop app there. It is just below the button that says "Get it Now". Are you seeing that?

@andrewt_vzw If you follow that link, does it give YOU an option for a Windows 10 desktop app?
