Message vs Message +

After the recent Lollipop upgrade, Basic messaging went away. Now I'm trying to learn Message+.  The old one displayed new messages up at the top of the screen.  How do I do that with this new program?  I've gone through Notification and Display menus.

Nothing works.  Sony Experia v3

Hi everyone,

Re: SONY XPERIA

We have spoken with Sony regarding this issue.   Sony updated the device to Lollipop which affected a number of apps.  Once Sony loads the patch, you'll be good as new.

The current workaround would be to use your native message app temporarily.  That app always runs in the background as a backup and continues to collect  your messages. Give it about 1 week and try the Message+ app again.

TLorenz777, Verizon Messages is a great application. Let's review display options. Are you inquiring about new message notifications (the number of new messages) or the actual message display? Are you looking for the messages to display in the notifications area at the top of the screen? Please share. Thank you.

HI TLorenz777,

To add to this conversation, you can set the app to show your message in the header this way:

In the Message+ app, go to Main Menu (3bars), Select 'Settings', in 'Notifications make sure the box is checked. The incoming message will show briefly in the header then vanish.

This should help.

Thanks,

If you end up not liking Message +, the original Message app should still be in your app drawer if you want to change back.

HI DIGITALRULES,

If you go to Applications Manager> Verizon Messages> and select 'Uninstall' update - the result should be the version ORIGINALLY installed on your device. If THAT is the version you are referring to, then yes, you should be able to return to that version.

However, if you are referring to an update that happened somewhere between the original version and the current 6.1.3 version, then NO, you cannot revert to the preferred version once it has been updated by a Play Store version.

IF you are able to get back to the version you prefer, here are the steps to STOP the app from updating from Play Store:

To STOP auto updates:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app .
  2. Touch the Menu icon  > My Apps.
  3. Select the app you want to update/not update.
  4. Touch the Menu  and check/uncheck  the box next to "Auto-update."

I am having a similar issue with Sony Xperia Z3v and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

I started a new question thread here: SMS notifications clearing immediately using VZ Message+

Ended up saving files to the laptop and doing a complete factory reset.

Then reloading the apps. The old message program came back. The Verizon

version is too temporary.

We want to do all that we can to get your Verizon Messages concern resolved USER_Max. The good news about the app is that it archives messages in the past up to 90 days. We appreciate you providing us with the details. The next step is to uninstall & reinstall the app. If you change your mind about doing this process then please execute, retest, and keep us posted.
