Messages+ v2.4.7 causing Mac OS X to hang (waiting beachball)

When will developers fix the Messages+ v2.4.7 application on the Mac from hanging and causing the wait "beachball"?  It is basically unusable on Mac OS X (especially slower/older machines).  It appears possibly related to pictures in text messages (possibly iOS pictures specifically).
