I have a Droid X and when I open the regular texting application and I go to enter a word once I hit the space bar the screen lags up and either backs me up out of the keyboard and views in full screen a previous text I sent or it doesn't show the words that I typed but when I hit enter the words appear. I don't seem to understand what the problem is because it doesn't lag when I type in my browser but only in text messages. I deleted all my conversations thinking that might've been the problem but I still get a lag when I hit space / select a auto correct word. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tmoney0882, thanks for posting. In addition to SuzyQ's suggestion, I would recommend checking to make sure you have the latest software for this phone. There was a new software just released 9/21 that updates some of the keyboard functionality, but the update before that made some improvements also. The new software may not have been pushed to your phone yet, but you can still try checking for it by going to Settings>About Phone>Software Updates. If not yet available, it will be pushed to your device soon. You can find information on the update on our support site.
Also, try resetting the keyboard by following these steps.
I'm having the same problem as Tmoney, but with my DROID R2D2. I will be in the text messaging screen typing a message when my screen freezes and no buttons except for the home button work. I can't scroll through my messages, nor can I type anything else with the physical keyboard, and I can't get the touch screen keyboard to pop up or work, either. My phone updated itself on its own a week ago, but this started yesterday.
