I believe that I am now having the same concern as those had in 2015 in message thread of "'---=_Part_' Error on Mac with Message+" except that my platform/software combination is Android and Google Voice.
As with OP, with the latest update of Google Voice (2024.11.10.695140841), I am receiving these cryptic messages -- which I assume are related to how message emoji tags are handled between Verizon and Android/GV. I will send a similar message to Google but thought I would also share here, in hopes that others might have already discovered a workaround/fix.
