Q: ISSUE with Verizon Message + and Galaxy A42 5G NOT showing number of new notifications on icon

PLEASE HELP!
Verizon Message + app is my favorite, and I had it on my previous phone (HTC Desire 626 Android 5).

Unfortunately, Android 5 was not compatible with new apps, so I had to get a newer phone.

I had NO issues with the number of messages popping up to the left side of the icon located on the bar at the very bottom only the number would show indicating number of new messages (i.e. 1,2,3,4).

NOW!

I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy A42 5G Android 11, and I DO NOT SEE any notifications or numbers indicating new messages (i.e. 1,2,3,4). I have a notification on the very top bar on the phone, but not on the icon like before.

PLEASE HELP!

From what I have gathered by looking online, this is a Verizon Wireless issue with the app. Most people have had this issue since 2017? I purchased my previous phone in 2016, so I haven't ran into this issue until now.

Can you please possibly help me solve this issue or am I basically out of luck (shoot out of luck). Thank you!

We know how important it is to be able to enjoy your apps, and I would be happy to provide more details about the Verizon Messages app. The feature that includes the number of messages showing on the app icon is a cosmetic display feature, and it is not included in recent software updates. While you can still view the messages if you go in, the display for this app no longer shows the number of messages. Does that help clarify?
