Verizon Messages app missing messages

Not to again stir up a many year-long thread but I just felt like replying.  I'm in a situation where my phone broke and I'm waiting for the new phone to come in the mail.  I need to login to various sites with 2-factor but this dumb online messages app never shows them.

For security purposes, two factor authentication texts are only delivered to the phone and not to any device that is synced to the number through Verizon Messages.
