I received this spam text message today which shows it was sent by an email rather than a phone number. I can't figure out any way to block this email address. As you can see, the "Block Number" button is greeted out.
I found one thread about this but it was old (like 2013) and none of the solutions worked for me on Verizon with Galaxy S10.

You can change your account settings in your MyVerizon account online to block all text messages from the web including email addresses.
