I recently blocked a phone number on my account last Thursday (June 6, 2019). As of yesterday, I started receiving this message every time I sent the main account number on my VZ account and my job's cell phone number and that is the message that I get. I have a LG Revere 3 basic phone. Power cycling and pulling the battery does not resolve the problem either. I have not made any other changes to my account nor signed up for any subscriptions.

Mzwilkat, we want all of your calls and messages going smoothly. Let's work to get to the bottom of this. Are you able to call these numbers without issue? Are you able to message other numbers without issue? Is your service a pay in advance service? This message would not be connected with blocking a number from contacting your line however, have you made any other recent changes on your account?

Mine also happened after blocking someone.
The messages come from my own number, so I can't block it, obviously.

No other changes were made to the account.
I have a "flip phone" so I don't go on the internet or have any apps or anything that could give me a virus or maleware.

I DO NOT think it's a coincidence that all of us had blocked numbers just before this started happening.

Something needs to be done. As a work phone I can't have my text messages full all day long and spend the time deleting these constantly.
And unblocking the person isn't a viable option, either.

It sounds like a message (or tons of them) that's sent when the person blocked attempts to text us.

My daughter keeps getting this message on her new phone. This is not a prepaid line. She has the family plan, which blocks any contacts outside of the pre-approved list. Could this have something to do with it? She keeps receiving texts from herself thatโ€™s say she has insufficient funds to complete a message. She has not sent any texts recently, so this is not in response to something she tried to send. She hasnโ€™t used her phone in a few days and she received this message twice today.

This is happening on my sonโ€™s new line/phone as well. I blocked a number, and now he keeps getting this message from what looks like his own phone number. He has a โ€œJust Kidsโ€ line, which is not a prepaid or pay-as-you-go line. How can we make it stop?

I can definitely understand you and your sonโ€™s concerns with receiving these unwanted messages. I would love to take a closer look into this messaging issue with you.

What model phone does your son have? How often does he receive this text? Lastly, which text messaging application is he using on his device?

I am sorry that occurred, and I am certain this is a system failure, because there is no rational explanation. If this continues, please reach out to us immediately at www.vzw.com/support. TinaN_VZW

I see by the sudden activity on this thread today that I am not alone.  Just started receiving these messages today.  I have not blocked anybody recently and haven't done a system update.  Verizon needs to fix this problem.  Very annoying.  Not impressed.

I got this text last week and one again today.  I block multiple numbers a day (all spam calls) so who knows what number it may be.  I don't remember doing an update or anything out of the ordinary.  I don't have a prepaid plan and I have a samsung galaxy s10 plus.  I'm glad to see I'm not the only one dealing with this issue.  I sure hope verizon gets this fixed.

I received this text today from ME!  I contacted Apple support, and this is not an iPhone issue. I have not done an upgrade OR blocked anyone recently. Using an iPhone 7 plus. This is definitely a much larger issue for Verizon.

Verizon:  it appears your customer list was hacked, and now fraudsters are spoofing our cell numbers. My bet...all of these messages, if not from the owners cell number, are probably sourcing back to only Verizon cell customers!  Absolutely not acceptable and Verizon needs to fix this NOW!

I believe this is correct on two fronts: Today, someone called me and said I had called their number but didn't leave a message. I had not called them, nor did their number show in my "Recent Calls" list. Someone had spoofed my number. Secondly, my wife's phone (all on the same family plan) is getting the "insufficient funds ..." message. Her messages are for her own phone number, so there is no 3rd party number to block / unblock.

I am getting the same texts as well. This is ridiculous- and the automated answer that Verizon keeps giving is not cutting it either. So what do we need to do to get this fixed? Thank you.

I have received 2 of these messages today as well...  I am on a work text group and they both came in after receiving a text from that group.  No one is blocked in the group and I don't get a text back from my own number with this message after every text I get from the group so don't think there is a true correlation...  Verizon- please FIX THIS!!!

Sorry to hear about the issues with receiving that confusing message, ChrisFurman. We are aware of the messages going out that state "Recipient has insufficient funds to receive message" but the issue should be cleared up by now. If you are still receiving these messages presently, please let us know.
